Link quickly picks up the ability to turn water into blocks of ice that can be used as stepping stones, lift metal objects to place them or destroy them, stop time to avoid obstacles or shatter things with bursts of kinetic energy, and throw or place bombs. It's the key to activating similar technology found throughout the massive world in the form of towers that will populate your world map and shrines that are tiny puzzle dungeons. Link is equipped with a Sheikah Slate, a piece of ancient technology that looks curiously like a Switch in handheld mode. Despite all of this, dedicated Zelda fans and players looking for a massive game they can play at their own pace will be rewarded with a sprawling adventure. Some elements, like crafting food and elixirs, lose their novelty and feel needlessly time consuming as the game goes on. Very little is explained and it's easy to literally and figuratively get lost while trying to puzzle out the best way to progress. That commitment to exploration and discovery is a mixed blessing. Many people regard it as one of the best Nintendo Switch games. Just as the Switch transformed video gaming by breaking down the console/handheld divide, Breath of the Wild transformed Nintendo's iconic action-adventure series by removing nearly all gating to produce a vast open world peppered with quests, bite-sized dungeons, and hidden rewards. That radical freedom is at the core of the design philosophy in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was one of the release titles for the Nintendo Switch. If you want to try to storm Hyrule Castle and take on Calamity Gannon immediately, you're welcome to try. In addition, if you have the expansion pass, you get the Ancient Briddle which adds extra 2 spurs to the stamina. As soon as you clear the first zone in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the game's final quest appears in your mission log. You can increase stamina temporarily by feeding it Endura Carrots if you really need. The stamina stats don’t really matter much. This horse feels so fast that you’ll only know it as soon as you ride it. So keep it away from enemies and you’ll be fine. However, strength just represents the health and not the actual attack power. Not very impressive in strength and stamina level. With 5 stars for speed, the fastest horse in the game can be found with a strength of 2, speed of 5 and stamina of 3. Check out this video which describes how to catch them in detail. It will take some tries to get the stats you want, but the stable is nearby, so it’s not a big deal. Just make sure not to get the ones with spots because they have shitty stats. You can save and load again to get different colored horses if you didn’t like the previous ones. When you go to the grassland, find the horses with the color you like, mount them and take them to the Serenne Stable to check their stats and register. The best horses can be found in Ridgeland Tower region, in the grassland just above Maag No’rah Shrine, near Serenne Stable. I named mine Dragmire, because it resembles Ganondorf’s horse. Which is a bummer since you lose the ability to summon it anywhere as you can’t put the Ancient Saddle on it. The biggest disappointment with this horse is that you cannot change the saddle or bridle. Check out this guide for full details on how to get it. You don’t need to start the quest first to catch it though. To begin the quest, speak to Straia at the Mounted Archery Camp. You can find this horse in the Taobab Grassland in the Lake Tower Region. Unlike other horses, once it gets to speed, it doesn’t slow down and can be faster than 3-star speed horses who need to slow down. It has the strength of 5, the speed of 2 and no stamina. “It’s so big”, as the NPC in the Mounted Archery Camp would say. Two of these are available via in-game quests. They are cool to mount, but you can’t register them at a stable, so not very useful. I didn’t cover all the creatures you can mount in the game such as Lord of the Mountain, Stalhorse, Bears, Stags etc. So let’s settle the debate once and for all, and list the best horses we can find in the game! Some would say Epona from the Link amiibo is the best horse, but that’s not true either. Also surprisingly, you can get a wild horse which is better than the special horses. If you google for the fastest horse, the results come back as “R oyal Stallion”, which couldn’t be further from the truth, considering it’s the second slowest horse in this list after the giant horse. There are so many different horses to choose from in Legend of Zelda, including many special horses available in the game or from amiibo, and various wild horses.
